How we check the figures

Where each figure comes from, how often it is checked, and what to do if you spot a mistake.

Every figure on cavitywallinsulation.ie comes from a source we link to, with the date we checked it. If we can't confirm a figure at its source, it doesn't go on the site.

Who maintains this site

Cavity Wall Insulation is run by Bartlomiej Standa, a sole trader trading as Elevate Ireland. He writes and checks the pages. cavitywallinsulation.ie is not SEAI or a government body and does not award grants.

The sources we use

  • SEAI wall insulation pageEvery grant amount, the higher rate, the eligibility rules and the second wall measure.
  • SEAI homeowner's guide to wall insulationWall types, the 0.27 W/m²K U-value and the questions to ask an installer. Not used for grant amounts, which are out of date in it.
  • SEAI windows and doors pageThe 27 January and 2 March 2026 dates in the timeline.
  • Citizens Information, Better Energy HomesThe 6 October 2026 changes (page edited 22 October 2026).
  • saveonheat.ieSEAI's median installed costs for H1 2025, incl. VAT, and its heating saving estimate.
  • ShamFix and OsberPer square metre prices from two Irish companies' own pages, with their dates and VAT status.

How we check figures

  1. Read the source itself. We read the figure on SEAI's own page, not a copy of it. Older SEAI PDFs still show pre-2026 amounts, so we don't use them for grant figures.
  2. Record the date. Each figure carries the date it was checked. The stamp near the top of each page says which source and when.
  3. Re-check on a schedule. We re-check grant figures against seai.ie once a month, and on the day SEAI announces a change.
  4. Leave out what we can't confirm. If a page has moved or a figure can't be found at its source, we take it off rather than guess.

What we don't do

  • We don't publish reviews, ratings or customer counts.
  • We don't use SEAI, government or EU logos, and nothing on this site claims to come from SEAI or the government.
  • We don't estimate savings ourselves. Where a saving is shown, it is a named source's estimate, linked.
